UMC Prayer Request

Wesley church has an active group of volunteers who are there for each of us when we ask for prayers to support and comfort us or others in times of need or to share our joys. This volunteer group is composed of the persons listed on our Prayer Chain. They have volunteered and are willing to be called on at any time when there is a request for prayer. Our Prayer Chain has been in existence since October of 1972, we average about 200 prayer requests each year.

Persons serving on the prayer chain are asked to receive telephone prayer requests, immediately pray for the expressed need, and then to pass the request on to the next prayer partner on the list. While the list of names is updated and realigned each year, the purposes and procedures of the prayer chain remain the same: we’re THERE, we become AWARE, we SHARE in PRAYER and CARE! We hear of a need, we pray with and for those in need, and we share our prayers in concert with others praying for the same need. Often when we become aware of a need—illness, injury, death, problem situation, or thanksgiving—an automatic response is “I wish I knew what I could do to help”. As a participant in the prayer chain ministry we can do the most important thing of all to help with any need, we can be a part of the team that turns the need over to God who supplies all of our needs.

We encourage anyone who is willing to commit to receiving telephone calls with prayer requests, taking time to pray for the request, and then passing the message on to the next prayer partner on the list, to join us in this ministry. Those for whom we
prayed have shared with us the reassurance, support and peace they have received through this prayer chain ministry. If you would like to join in this prayer chain ministry please contact either the church office at 842-3768 or Dorothy Paulsen at 845-5419 by
November 15th. A new prayer chain list with specific directions will be mailed to all participants by early December. Current prayer chain participants will be included on the new list unless they request a change.
