Charge Conference Annual meeting of a church where officers are elected for the coming year. It also receives reports, reviews and evaluates the total mission and ministry of the congregation, and adopts objectives and goals recommended by the Church Council. |

Church Council The church council shall envision, plan, implement, and annually evaluate the mission, vision, and ministry of the church. It shall provide for planning and implement ministries of nurture, outreach, witness, evangelism, and resources in the local church. It shall also provide for the administration of its organizational and temporal life. The church council shall be amenable to and function as the administrative agency of the charge conference. Anyone may attend the meetings. Ministry/Resource Committees There are two types of Committees; Ministry and Resource (i.e. Membership/Outreach Committee and Finance Committee). There are two types of Resource Teams, Committees and Action (Technology Committee and Audio and Visual Team). Committees report directly to the Church Council and are responsible for tactical (yearly) goals and objectives. Teams report to Committees or Church Council and are responsible for the monthly and weekly/daily operations and tasks of the church. Anyone may attend the meetings except S/PPRC which are closed meetings. |
Role of the Pastor As the churches spiritual leader; Pastors are in a unique position to shape and direct the spiritual searching so evident in our culture. People are hungry for what is available through the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is our challenge to make this gospel accessible to them in ways that are meaningful and relevant to their lives. This positive formation leads persons to wholeness. Role of the Council Chair The Church Council Chairperson is a partner in ministry with your pastoral leadership and the lay leader of your congregation. In concert, pastors, lay leader, and council chairperson oversee the nurture, outreach, witness, and administrative work of the church. As such, the council chairperson is fundamentally the “Chief Ministries Officer” of the congregation. Role of the Lay Leader The lay leader serves as primary advocate for and representative of the laity in the congregation and must be a professing member of the congregation. As an “extension” of the congregation in the community, they will need to be aware of the reputation the church has in the community. Role of the Lay Member to Annual Conference Serves in partnership with the appointed pastor and staff as primary advocate for and representative of the laity in the congregation. Meets regularly with the pastor to discuss the state of the congregation and needs for ministry. Assists in advising these groups of opportunities and needs for effective ministry through laity in the community. Understand the church’s reason for existence and types of ministry that will fulfill the church’s mission effectively. Role of the Board of Trustees Manages church property, equipment, and investments to support the vision and mission of the church. Supervise and maintain all property belonging to the congregation so that the ministries of the congregation can be effective. Works closely with the Church Council to respond to God’s call. |
