Our vision at Wesley UMC,
for adults:
Choose - Deuteronomy 30:19
New Convenant - John 3:16
Belive in Jesus - John 1:12
Get Gifts - Galations 3:13-14
Be Transformed - Romans 12:2
We do this, through Jesus, by:
"Sanctify them [purify, consecrate, separate them for Yourself, make
them holy] by the Truth; Your Word
is Truth" (John 17:17)
Believe in Him, "If you abide in My
word [hold fast to My teachings and
live in accordance with them], you
are truly My disciples. And you will know the Truth, and the Truth will
set you free" (John 8:31-32).

Disciple I
Disciple I is a program of small group (8-16) in-depth Bible study and mutual
re-enforcement. Some students take a course more than once, to gain new insights and
meet new fellow students. Wesley UMC will offer a Disciple I course on Thursdays
starting in September. The group will be led by Jim Golz, who has led or co-led five
previous Disciple I groups.
Disciple I lasts 35 weeks, the first meeting being organizational. The remaining sessions
are split equally between the Old and New Testaments and cover about 60% of the
Bible. A workbook ($35) guides each week’s reading. We begin each 2 1/2 hour
meeting with a video on the week’s lesson and then review our own questions and
observations. Most groups like to take a break in the middle of the evening. We
resume with an in-depth look at part of the week’s scripture, review the main points of
the lesson, and conclude with prayer concerns.
The sign-up table has descriptive brochures and sample lessons. We need to know
your name, phone number, and whether or not you need a manual ( for former
students, the 2nd edition is still current). Spouses may wish to share a manual. The
deadline to register is August 15th.
Our first meeting will be Thursday,
September 9, at 7:00 p.m. and will
last roughly one hour.
We’ll introduce ourselves,
distribute materials, and decide
whether to start future sessions
at 6:00 p.m., 6:30 p.m., or
7:00 p.m. and finish up accordingly.
